Dr Sonick is dual boarded in both Periodontics and Dental Implants. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons and the International Team for Implantology (ITI).
His international contributions have been recognized in various ways, including an Honorary Membership in the Indian Society of Periodontists, a Fellowship in the American College of Dentists, a Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Society, a Dental XP mentor, a member of Who’s Who in Dentistry and membership in the Leading Dental Centers of the World,
The Residents at Yale New Haven Hospital gave Dr. Michael Sonick the honor of “Teacher of the Year.” He is proud to be an Eagle Scout.
Guest Lecturer
Dr. Sonick has been teaching in the international program at New York University School of Dentistry and the periodontal residency program at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine since 1985. He lectures worldwide on all aspects of dental surgical care including gum grafting, periodontal surgery, cosmetics and smile design, bone reconstruction, dental implants and comprehensive treatment planning.
He is the co-editor of the multi-language textbook, “Implant Site Development,” translated into Spanish and Chinese. He serves on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including the Compendium of Continuing Education, Inside Dentistry, Dentistry Today, and the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.
He believes in the importance of conservative treatment and teaches his students that the simplest most conservative solution is often the best.
